This is pretty much the first time I have discovered mechanical pencils, and apparently they are literally magic because they have completely transformed my art style. I'm hoping to make a part two of this piece and make them connect into a really crazy pattern, but for now it's just the one. It took around 3 months to complete, with three different graphite grades - 2B, HB, and H. 

It's super fun to try to make things as dense as possible, to layer in the different elements, and to hide a bunch of things in the many shadows. 

This was the photo I took for reference. Every time the crazy, scrappy wild flowers start growing all over each other in Montreal neighborhoods, they make me very happy.
